The Piling at Pea Island Life Saving Station
I was showing my son around town during the week, and while checking out the waterline at the Pea Island Life Saving Station, I noticed this piling a little way inland. I thought to myself, this would be a great foreground for a Milky Way Photo, so I took out my phone and opened my PhotoPills app. To my surprise, I found the Milky Way just high enough in the sky to cross the top of the piling.
Needless to say, I made the trip out to the location on a clear night and grabbed the photos needed to create the image above.
The photo is a composite of 15 sky images, stacked in Sequator for noise reduction, then I refocused on the piling and took another two images to light paint the foreground, and a third just for the lamp I brought from home to set on top.
Everything was blended in Photoshop, and ran through Topaz Denoise for a touch of noise reduction.
Enjoy!
